The American Library Association (ALA), the worlds largest and oldest library association, provides ideas and resources on how your library can participate in the annual celebraton of the freedom to read. ALA also provides information on challenged books, including the ALA Office for Intellectual Freedom's Top 10 Challenged Books list, which has been published since 2001. ALA also helps librarians facing actual or possible challenges to library materials, services, and programs. Check out ALA’s challenge support webpage for information.
Other organizations that can help librarians facing challenges are the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund and the National Coalition Against Censorship. Both organizations write letters of support, fight unconstitutional legislation, and take further action to protect the right to read. If you need assistance, contact CBLDF at email@example.com or call 1- 800-99-CBLDF. Report censorship to NCAC here.
