Both online and in our newsletter, the ASJA Monthly, the American Society of Journalists and Authors has kept its members up-to-date on various Banned Books Week events and has urged them to join in the virtual readout. Additionally, ASJA awarded its Open Book Award for 2012 to Librotraficante for its creative and effective actions in combating the banning of books on Latino culture in public schools.
ASJA's bright red "I Read Banned Books" buttons have become iconic and are more popular than ever. More information about ASJA's activities in defense of the First Amendment may be found at our website.
